MIAMI – The FIU men's soccer team closes out its two-match homestand on Sunday evening when the Panthers host Missouri State in their American Conference home opener at Leyva Family Field at FIU Soccer Stadium.

The Panthers (3-2-2, 1-0 American) will debut their highly anticipated VICE uniforms, unveiled on social media earlier this week, while looking to remain unbeaten in league play after opening the conference slate with a road win at Memphis.
FIU enters Sunday's matchup on a two-game win streak, earning a 1-0 victory at Memphis on Sept. 12 before securing a 2-0 shutout against FGCU on Thursday, Sept. 18.
Newcomers
Pasquale Capriati and
Johan Helan continued their strong form, each scoring their third goals of the season in the win over FGCU. The duo has combined for six goals and 15 points through seven matches. Capriati leads the team in goals (3), points (9), shots (13), and shares the team lead in assists (3), with his nine points ranking fourth in the American. Helan has found the net in three of the last four contests, starting all seven matches while logging 533 minutes.
Scott Neil has been a key presence in midfield, starting every match while adding a goal and three assists and ranking second on the team with 535 minutes played.
Joao Domingues has tallied assists in back-to-back outings, including the setup for Helan's strike against FGCU. Veterans
David Boccuzzo and
Mathys Lefebvre have provided steady play, appearing in all seven matches.
On the backline,
Owen Travis has started six matches and was named American Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the shutout at Memphis.
Alfonso Gilleard-Soriano has earned five straight starts, while
Leonardo Consoloni has added stability in midfield with three 90-minute outings in his last four appearances.
Off the bench, freshmen
Dominic Brady and
Diego Sanchez have contributed valuable minutes, with Brady recording an assist and Sanchez playing 80 or more minutes in his last three matches.
In goal, junior
Nigel Van Haveren has recorded back-to-back shutouts, including Thursday's win over FGCU, giving him five clean sheets in his career. He has made 21 saves this season, ranking fifth in the American.
HISTORY WITH THE BEARS
Sunday marks the first-ever meeting between FIU and Missouri State, as the Bears joined the American Conference for men's soccer ahead of the 2025 season.
SCOUTING MISSOURI STATE
The Bears (3-1-2, 1-0 American) enter Sunday's contest following a 1-1 draw at No. 7 Saint Louis on Tuesday. Missouri State opened league play with a dominant 4-0 win over Temple on Sept. 12.
The Bears are led by former Panther Fumiya Shiraishi, who currently leads the nation in scoring with eight goals and 17 points this season. Shiraishi played at FIU from 2022–23, making 22 appearances and scoring five goals. He notched a two-goal performance in the win over Temple.
Ollie Bate and Adrian Esteban share the team lead in assists (2), while defender Harry Jolley anchors the backline with 540 minutes played. Goalkeeper Will Lowry has started four matches, posting 10 saves with a 0.45 goals-against average.
