The Panthers look to bounce back following a two-game road trip in the Carolinas, where they fell to No. 8 NC State, 2-0, on Friday, Aug. 29, and dropped a 3-2 decision at South Carolina on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

On the trip, FIU found the back of the net twice, highlighted by Pasquale Capriati's second goal of the season and Johan Helan's first career score on a header.

Through four matches, Capriati and graduate student Scott Neil pace the squad with five points apiece. Neil leads the American Conference assists (3) and has logged 311 minutes this season, including a full 90-minute effort at South Carolina. Capriati and Eduardo Mustre have each tallied two goals on nine shots to start the year.

Freshman Dominic Brady has emerged on the wing, starting the last three contests and recording his first career assist on Capriati's goal Tuesday. Owen Travis returned to the lineup in Columbia, contributing 86 minutes and assisting Helan's header.

Goalkeeper Nigel Van Haveren has started all four matches and is tied for the conference lead in saves (18). He turned in a career-high 11 stops against NC State, including eight in the first half—the most by a Panther since Johan Peñaranda's 14-save outing against Marshall on March 13, 2021.

Defensively, Mathys Lefebvre and Joao Domingues have combined for seven starts this season. Junior Leonardo Consoloni earned his first career start Tuesday, adding an assist, while Alfonso Gilleard-Soriano has played the full 90 minutes in each of his starts.

As a team, FIU has fired 45 shots this season, ranking third among American Conference programs.

HISTORY WITH STONY BROOK
Saturday marks just the second all-time meeting between FIU and Stony Brook. The Seawolves won the first matchup, 2-0, on Nov. 5, 2000.

The match also serves as a reunion for FIU associate head coach Dannie Merida, who spent nine seasons on the Seawolves' staff, including a stint as associate head coach from 2017–19 before joining the Panthers in 2020.

SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES
Stony Brook enters the weekend 2-1-1 after a 3-0 win over Quinnipiac on Tuesday. The Seawolves are unbeaten in their last three, which includes a 2-1 victory over Marist on Aug. 21.

Forward Finlay Oliver leads the way with two goals and three assists, including a goal and two helpers against Quinnipiac. Alex Fleury has also tallied three assists, while Calen Danquah paces the team with 10 shots. Kristoffer Aarflot has added a goal and an assist through four matches, and Jamie Orson and Nicholas Wilson lead the team with 360 minutes played apiece.

In goal, Heidar Hermansson started the first three matches before Rushon Sandy recorded a shutout against Quinnipiac in his first start of the season.
