MIAMI – FIU women's basketball (11-7, 4-3 CUSA) falls to Louisiana Tech (13-5, 6-1 CUSA) on Saturday afternoon, 74-59.
Louisiana Tech started hot in the first quarter, going on a 15-4 run to start the game and ending the first quarter up, 19-12.
The Panthers battled back, using some hot shooting from beyond the arc to get themselves back in the game in the second quarter, going 3-4 from three in the frame. FIU went into the half trailing 35-32.
Louisiana Tech pulled ahead in the third quarter, scoring 20 points to the Panthers' nine and kept FIU at bay in the fourth as well, completing the Lady Techsters' sixth win in a row.
Three Panthers finished the game in double-figures, led by Parris Atkins with 14 points, adding on three rebounds, two assists and one block. Judit Valero finished with 13, hitting three triples and adding two steals to her line.
Denika Lightbourne was the final Panther in double-figures, who ending with 10 points on 4-7 shooting, also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists.
The loss was the first for the Panthers since January 8, winning their previous four in a row before dropping Saturday's contest.

FIU will head back on the road next week when they take on Liberty in Lynchburg, Virginia on Thursday, January 29 at 7 p.m.
