Swim & Dive Hits the Road to Boca Raton to Face Florida Atlantic

Panthers prepare for final regular season meet

MIAMI – The FIU swimming and diving program heads to Boca Raton to face conference foe Florida Atlantic in its final dual meet of the regular season Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers look to finish the regular season strong before turning their focus to the American  Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, scheduled for Feb. 18–21 in Greensboro, North Carolina, where FIU aims to defend its conference title.
 
Competition begins Friday, Jan. 30, with platform diving at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center. The meet will conclude Saturday with the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, along with swimming competition against the Owls.
 
FIU enters the weekend after falling to FGCU, 178-121, on Saturday, Jan. 24, recording 19 top-three finishes in the meet.
 
Saturday's matchup marks the 16th all-time meeting between the two programs, with FIU having won every dual-meet contest since 2013. The two teams also met earlier this season at the TYR Fall Classic. In their most recent dual-meet meeting, FIU earned a 167-132 victory at home on Feb. 1, 2025, while the Panthers claimed a 173-126 road win in Boca Raton on Jan. 27, 2024.

LAST TIME OUT
Junior Diana Santamaria led the Panthers with a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (55.36) and a second-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle (51.88).
 
Nicole Frank recorded a pair of top-three individual finishes, highlighted by a victory in the 400-yard individual medley (4:28.41). She also placed third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.92.
 
Pauline Zeller captured first place in the 100-yard butterfly (54.88) and added a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.97). Sophomore Tawannah McLemore earned two top-three finishes, placing second in the 50-yard freestyle (23.55) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (57.23).
 
On the diving boards, Kristina Keenan delivered a standout performance, earning zone-qualifying scores in both events. Her score of 310.43 on the 3-meter board ranked seventh-best in program history, while her 278.18 on the 1-meter board marked a personal best and zone cut.
 
Ruska Lehtonen secured a season-best score of 286.35 on the 3-meter board to earn a zone cut and a third-place finish. Brooke Megdall added a third-place showing on the 1-meter board with a personal-best score of 251.63 and finished fourth on the 3-meter board with a score of 261.75.

SCOUTING THE OWLS
Florida Atlantic enters the meet with a 4-2 dual-meet record, coming off wins against St. Thomas, Wagner and North Texas.
 
The Owls most recently recorded a 240-57 victory over St. Thomas and also captured the Patriot Invitational title in November. Last season, Florida Atlantic finished sixth at the American Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.
