DALLAS — FIU football's kicker Robert Czeremcha was honored by Conference USA (CUSA) as Special Teams Player of the Week for his key contributions in FIU's VICE Night win over New Mexico State, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Czeremcha knocked in a total of five field goals and added an extra point, accounting for 16 of FIU's 22 points in a dominant 22-3 win over NMSU on Wednesday night. His five field goals marked the most in a game for FIU since 2008 and tied a school-record for the most-ever in a single game. Five made field goals are also the second-most in a game in CUSA history.
He made field goals of 52, 48, 40, 33 and 21 yards in the victory, eclipsing his career-high of 39 yards three times. The 52-yarder is the second-longest made field goal in program history, just one yard shy of the program-record of 53 yards.
Czeremcha is FIU's first CUSA Special Teams Player of the Week winner since Lexington Joseph earned this honor on Sept. 20, 2020 against Liberty. Additionally, he is the fifth winner of a weekly award this season for FIU as the Panthers won four-of-five available awards on Sept. 14 following their win over Buffalo. FIU is the only program in CUSA that has now won all five weekly awards this season.
