MIAMI – For the second consecutive week, FIU men's soccer forward Sergio Perello was named American Conference Freshman of the Week, while graduate student striker Santi Possu earned Honorable Mention recognition, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Perello secured his second straight Freshman of the Week honor after scoring in FIU's 2-1 victory over Florida Atlantic on Friday, Oct. 23. He played 73 minutes and has recorded a point in back-to-back matches. The Miami, Fla., native has appeared in all 14 matches this season, making six starts.

Possu earned his sixth weekly conference honor of the season and his fifth Honorable Mention recognition after scoring the game-winning goal in the second half against Florida Atlantic to secure a key conference victory. The goal marked the graduate student's team-leading 10th of the season, and he continues to pace the Panthers with 21 points.

Possu leads the American Conference with 10 goals overall and six goals in conference play, while ranking second in game-winning goals. Nationally, he ranks eighth in goals per game (0.77) and ninth in total goals.

Possu has earned American Conference Honorable Mention recognition five times this season (Sept. 21, Sept. 28, Oct. 5, Oct. 19 and Oct. 26), in addition to being named American Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 31.
