MIAMI — FIU's football program will take on Illinois, out of the Big 10 Conference, in Champaign, Ill. on Aug. 28, 2027 at Gies Memorial Stadium. 

The Panthers will face off with the Fighting Illini in the 2027 season's lid-lifter on the road in non-conference play. This will be the third time in the last four seasons that FIU will have its road opener at a B10 opponent, having taken on Indiana and Penn State in 2024 and 2025, respectively. It will be the first-ever meeting between the Panthers and Fighting Illini and the Panthers' eighth-ever matchup against the Big Ten. 

Game time and TV info will be released at a later date. This matchup rounds out FIU's four-game non-conference slate for 2027, featuring Illinois, Buffalo, Fla. Atlantic and UConn.
