NEWARK, Del. – FIU women's basketball (12-8, 5-4 CUSA) fell to Delaware (11-11, 5-5 CUSA) on Sunday evening, 51-48.
The Panthers started the game well, holding the Blue Hens to just eight points in the first quarter and ending the opening frame up 18-8.
FIU continued to hold Delaware at bay in the second quarter, heading into the half up 31-21.
Rhema Collins led the Panthers in the first half with 14 points, ending with 20 on the night and added on nine rebounds and a career-high seven steals, surpassing her previous high of four.
Delaware came alive in the second half, out-scoring the Panthers 30-17 in the final two quarters and coming out with the victory.
Parris Atkins was the only other Panther in double-figures on the night, putting up 15 points and hitting four triples.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will head back home for a two-game homestand against Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee on February 5 and 7.
