MIAMI – Baseball's sophomore pitcher Bryce Turner was named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List, as announced Tuesday afternoon.
 
Turner enters his second season in the Blue & Gold and is expected to be a key piece at the back end of the Panthers' bullpen. The Rockledge, Florida native posted a 3.47 ERA across 23.1 innings during his freshman campaign, recording 26 strikeouts and a 2-0 record in 18 appearances. Opponents hit just .202 against the right-hander.
 
Turner closed out his freshman season with a strong performance at the 2025 Conference USA Championships, tossing a career-high four scoreless innings with three strikeouts against No. 3 Kennesaw State.

104 players were named to the initial 2026 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List, In total, 17 conferences are represented on this list, and one of three CUSA selections.
 
He becomes the first Panther since Ryan Cabarcas in 2024 named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year List.
 
The NCBWA, founded in 1962, presents the Dick Howser Trophy to the nation's top player and the Mike Martin National Coach of the Year to the nation's top coach. It also selects All-America Teams for all Divisions, a Division I Freshman All-American team, Division I, II and III Players of the Week and Division I, II and III Players of the Year.
