RUSTON, La. – Women's basketball (14-9, 7-5 CUSA) dropped their contest to Louisiana Tech (18-5, 11-1 CUSA) on Thursday night, 71-49.
The Panthers played close basketball for the majority of the contest, going into the fourth quarter down just 10 points. The Lady Techsters shot 50% from the field and 71% from three in the final frame to pull away and seal their victory.
FIU's defense was locked in for the first three quarters, with LA Tech ending the first half shooting just 33.3% from the field and 11.1% from three, and the third quarter shooting 27.3%.
Judit Valero led the Panthers with 11 points on the evening, also grabbing four rebounds and dishing out an assist.
Parris Atkins ended the contest with 10 points and two rebounds, while Fantasia James notched a career-high with 12 rebounds, adding on two blocks and two steals.
