CORAL GABLES, Fla. — FIU's women's tennis program suffered a 7-0 setback to Miami on Wednesday afternoon on the road.
The Panthers, who defeated the Hurricanes in 2024, struggled to gain an advantage from the outset of the match. Following a forfeit at No. 2 doubles due to an FIU injury, Miami notched the doubles point a short time later with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Hurricanes' success extended to singles as Miami won all five singles matches that were officially played. Due to injury, FIU trailed 2-0 in the match as singles began due to a forfeit at No. 6 singles. Vittoria Baccino and Viktorie Hazmukova battled hard for the Panthers, winning the first set in each of their matches. However, Miami outlasted FIU in both bouts, coming back from the 1-0 deficit to the win the individual matches at Nos. 2 and 5, respectively, in three sets.
