Women’s Tennis Drops Match to No. 27 Yale

FIU plays next on Monday, March 16 against James Madison at home

MIAMI — FIU's women's tennis team fell to No. 27 Yale, 4-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the PayCargo Tennis Center.

The Panthers (3-5) dropped the doubles point and saw singles losses on Courts 1, 4, and 6 as Yale secured the overall victory.

In doubles, Court 2 finished first, giving the Bulldogs an early lead. Katarina Mandelikova and Viktorie Hazmukova evened the score at 1-1 with a win on their court, but a loss on Court 3 ultimately handed the doubles point to Yale.

Yale continued its success in singles play, winning the first three matches to clinch the overall match. Courts 2, 3 and 5 remained in play, giving the Panthers a chance to extend the match, but Yale jumped out to strong starts in both bouts to secure the win. Vittoria Baccino was in the midst of a third-set battle, having lost the first set and won the second, when the match concluded.
