MIAMI — FIU's women's tennis team fell to No. 27 Yale, 4-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the PayCargo Tennis Center.
The Panthers (3-5) dropped the doubles point and saw singles losses on Courts 1, 4, and 6 as Yale secured the overall victory.
In doubles, Court 2 finished first, giving the Bulldogs an early lead. Katarina Mandelikova and
Viktorie Hazmukova evened the score at 1-1 with a win on their court, but a loss on Court 3 ultimately handed the doubles point to Yale.
Yale continued its success in singles play, winning the first three matches to clinch the overall match. Courts 2, 3 and 5 remained in play, giving the Panthers a chance to extend the match, but Yale jumped out to strong starts in both bouts to secure the win.
Vittoria Baccino was in the midst of a third-set battle, having lost the first set and won the second, when the match concluded.
UP NEXT
FIU will continue its stretch of home matches next week, facing James Madison on Monday, March 16 at noon, followed by Columbia on Wednesday, March 18 at noon.
