ABILENE, Texas - Women's basketball (21-11) will travel to the Lone Star State to face Abilene Christian in round two of the WNIT on Tuesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
The winner of the game will advance to the Super 16 to take on Illinois State.

The Inbound
The Panthers are coming off a thrilling overtime victory in the first round of the WNIT against Stetson. Down three with just four seconds left, FIU's Rhema Collins stole the Hatters inbound pass and shot a triple just before the buzzer sounded, sinking it and sending the game to overtime. The Panthers would go on to win in overtime and advance to the second round of the WNIT for the second time in as many appearances.
FIU standout Rhema Collins and Parris Atkins both excelled in conference-play, with Collins' performance earning her both CUSA Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. The guard was also placed on First Team All-CUSA and the CUSA All-Defensive Team.
Notable Storylines
- This is the ninth time in program history FIU will be in the WNIT, with a 7-9 record overall in the tournament.
- The Panthers have played Stetson in the first round of the tournament three times and are 3-0 in those contests. It was the second appearance in a row that FIU played Stetson in the first round, with FIU also beating the Hatters in the first round of the WNIT two years ago.
- This is also the second time in three seasons FIU will play in the WNIT, with the Panthers going 1-1 in the tournament last season.
- This will be the third time in two seasons FIU will play Abilene Christian, and the fourth time the Panthers will play ACU since head coach Jesyka Burks-Wiley took over the program.
Series History
Abilene Christian leads the all-time series 2-1, all of which coming in the last six seasons. In the first matchup between the two programs, the Panthers prevailed in the WBI beating ACU 78-61 in the 2020-21 season. The Wildcats came to Miami twice last season, beating FIU both times, including in the championship game of the FIU Thanksgiving Tournament.
