MIAMI — FIU's women's tennis program secured a 6-1 victory over DePaul on Wednesday afternoon at the PayCargo Tennis Center, marking its third consecutive win. The Panthers (6-7) set the tone early with a gritty doubles performance against the Blue Demons, claiming the point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 before carrying that momentum into singles, where a sweep across all six positions sealed the match.
In doubles play, DePaul struck first with a win at No. 3.
Katerina Mandelikova and
Viktorie Hazmukova responded at No. 1 with a hard-fought 7-6(7) tiebreak victory to even the score. With the point coming down to Court 2,
Jelena Vico and
Vittoria Baccino delivered another clutch performance, securing a 7-6(3) tiebreak win to give FIU an early 1-0 lead.
FIU continued its momentum in singles. Mandelikova set the tone with a dominant 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1. Baccino followed with a steady 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 3, extending the Panthers' lead to 3-0.
After playing a key role in securing the doubles point, Vico battled back at No. 2 singles to clinch the match, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Play continued on the remaining courts, with every match going to three sets, as FIU ultimately secured victories at Nos. 5 and 6.

FIU hits the road to face No. 56 North Florida on Friday, March 27 at 11 a.m., followed by a neutral-site matchup against Austin Peay on Saturday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex.
