MIAMI — FIU's women's tennis team fell 4-1 to Florida Atlantic on Saturday afternoon at the PayCargo Tennis Center, closing out the regular season.
The match also marked Senior Day for
Katerina Mandelikova, who was honored prior to the match for her contributions to the program.
FIU dropped the doubles point, as Florida Atlantic secured wins on Courts 2 and 3 to take an early 1-0 lead.
In singles play, the Owls extended their advantage with straight-set victories on Courts 2 and 3. FIU responded on Court 5, where
Viktorie Hazmukova delivered a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win to put the Panthers on the board.
Florida Atlantic clinched the match with a three-set victory on Court 6, sealing the 4-1 decision.
Two matches went unfinished, including Mandelikova's battle at No. 1, where she led 5-3 in the third set, and
Maria Lucia Araoz-Gosn's match at No. 4.
With the loss, FIU closes the regular season at 9-10 overall.

The Panthers will travel to Murfreesboro for the Conference USA Championships, hosted by Middle Tennessee State University.
