MIAMI – FIU's baseball program dropped the middle game of the series to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 6-2, Friday evening at FIU Baseball Stadium.
Louisiana Tech struck early, scoring in the first on an RBI single before adding three runs in the second on a sacrifice fly and a two-run double to take a 4-0 lead.
The Bulldogs extended the advantage to 5-0 in the fifth with an RBI single before FIU (10-21, 2-9 CUSA) responded in the bottom half. After loading the bases on a
Cooper Rasmussen single and walks by
Samuel Fischer and
Mario Trivella,
Aidan Cohall drew an RBI walk. Cohall later came around to score on a wild pitch, cutting the deficit to 5-2.
Louisiana Tech added an insurance run in the seventh and held on for the 6-2 victory.
On the mound,
Enrique Sierra made his second consecutive start, setting a career high with 4.2 innings pitched while allowing five earned runs and striking out six batters, also a career best.
George Adams allowed one run over 3.1 innings in relief with two strikeouts, while
Jordan Vargas worked a scoreless ninth inning.
Offensively,
Andrew Ildefonso and Rasmussen each recorded a hit, with Rasmussen extending his on-base streak to 16 games. Fischer drew a team-high four walks, while Cohall reached base twice via walks.
Marc Hersh also added a walk.
