MIAMI — Following a 34-win regular season, FIU's softball program will take on Louisiana Tech in the opening round of the Conference USA (CUSA) Championships on Wednesday, May 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the Delaware Softball Diamond in Newark, Del. 

FIU earned the six-seed in the upcoming CUSA Championships with a 34-win campaign, 16 of which came in CUSA play. Both are the highest for the program since the 2017 season. The sixth-seeded Panthers will match up with the seventh-seeded Bulldogs in the play-in single elimination round on Wednesday afternoon. The winner of FIU-La Tech will advance into the double elimination six-team tournament to take on third-seeded Liberty at 7:30 p.m. to close out Day One in Newark. 

The Panthers won 2-of-3 in their previous meeting with the Bulldogs this season, April 10-12, in Ruston. FIU won Games One and Three of the series over La Tech as Kennedy Byrd launched three homers in the series to propel the Panthers to two wins.
