MIAMI – FIU drops its home opener against No. 4 Florida State, 2-0.

The Panthers were able to get off four shots of their own in the opening 45 minutes but were unable to convert, heading into the half knotted at 0-0.
FSU opened up the scoring in the second half with a goal at the 55:32 mark, going up 1-0, before scoring again a minute later to take a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute. The Panthers' defense settled back in the rest of the contest, not allowing another goal to the No. 4 team in the nation.
The Panthers took six shots in the second half, three of which were on goal, all saved by the Seminoles' goalkeeper.
Redshirt-senior Maya Maxwell had three shots and one shot on goal, with fellow senior Mariana Barreto matching her teammate with three shots as well.
