MIAMI – Women's soccer (2-3-3) will welcome their last Florida opponent of the season when Jacksonville (1-2-2) makes the trip down to Miami for a Sunday afternoon matchup on September 13 at 1 p.m.

The Panthers are coming off their second win of the season when they beat Stetson 3-0 in a morning matchup in DeLand. Madeline Oliver started the scoring in the 11th minute with her second goal of the season and first game-winner of her career. Adria Kitzinger extended FIU's lead less than five minutes later with her first goal of the season, and freshman Valentina Zorrilla put the match away in the 45th minute with her first career goal in the closing seconds of the first half. 

The FIU defense may have their best match of the season, securing a shutout while allowing zero shots on goal on just six shots seen.

Game Preview

The Panthers welcome Jacksonville to Miami for the first time since their 2023 home opener, winning that contest 4-0 over the Dolphins.

Three Panthers now lead the team in goals scored on the season, with Maya Maxwell, Tuzu Tanida and Madeline Oliver all owning two scores through eight contests. FIU as a team now has eight goal scorers on the season, already tying the amount the 2025 team had all year.

With three assists in her last three contests, two of which coming against Howard, Maya Maxwell leads the Panthers in assists in the 2026 campaign with three, second in the conference and already tying the team lead from last season. Maxwell now commands seven points this season, leading FIU and tied for fifth in CUSA.

Senior goalkeeper Valery Restrepo comes into the contest with a 1.50 GAA and 30 saves on the season, setting a new career-high with nine saves against Miami.

Scouting the Dolphins

Jacksonville comes into the contest with a 1-2-2 record, with their only win coming in the first match of the 2026 season when the Dolphins beat ACC-opponent Miami, 2-0.

Since then, Jacksonville has not been able to garner a winning result, going 0-2-2 in their four matches since their season opener on August 12. Jacksonville has also been unable to find the back of the net since their first match of the season, sending 55 shots and 18 shots on goal in their four matches since then.

Jacksonville's two goal scorers on the season come from Sophomore Julia Delprat and freshman Ula Omerzu, with assists from a pair of seniors in Kayla Jackson and Olivia Peal.

Two Dolphins have played between the posts this season, with junior goalkeeper Taylor Gardner playing and starting in all five matches for a total of 420 minutes. The Missouri native comes into the match with a 1.93 goals against average and 14 saves. 

Match Notes

The series comes into the matchup tied at 6-6-1, with FIU going 6-1-1 since their first win in the series in 2017.

FIU's match against then-ranked No. 4 Florida State marked the first time the Panthers played a defending national champion since 1999, when FIU played the 1998 national champion Florida Gators, losing 8-0.

The Panthers' back-to-back matches against then-ranked No. 4 Florida State and No. 2 Duke was the first time in program history FIU played top-5 teams in consecutive matches.
