LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Women's soccer drops their first Conference USA matchup of the season at New Mexico State, 1-0.
The first half was a contested affair, with both teams earning chances but unable to cross the goal line, ending the first 45 minutes of the contest in a 0-0 stalemate.
New Mexico State opened up the scoring in the 67th minute of the contest, taking a 1-0 lead midway through the second half.
FIU ended the contest with 13 shots and five shots on goal, but were unable to find the equalizing score, giving the Panthers their first loss of the Conference USA slate. Yuzu Tanida, Valentina Zorilla and Adria Kitzinger led FIU with two shots a piece with Tanida and Zorilla both earning shots on goal.
Senior Goalkeeper Valery Restrepo saw 12 shots and six shots on goal, ending the contest with five saves.

FIU will have their first home conference schedule of the season when they welcome Delaware on Thursday, October 1 at 6 p.m at Leyva Family Field at FIU Soccer Stadium.
