MIAMI – FIU Athletics and La Poderosa 990 AM announced today a groundbreaking partnership that will make La Poderosa the flagship radio home of FIU football, men's basketball and baseball, expanding the reach of Panther Athletics throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
 
The partnership represents a believed historic first in collegiate athletics broadcasting, featuring live Spanglish-language calls that blend Spanish and English throughout the game presentation, creating a listening experience that authentically reflects the culture and dialect spoken throughout South Florida.
 
Beginning immediately with FIU's VICE-themed football game on Wednesday, October 7 against New Mexico State, La Poderosa 990 AM will broadcast all home and road football games the rest of the season with dedicated pregame and postgame coverage. The partnership will expand to include home FIU men's basketball games in November and also home FIU baseball broadcasts when the season commences in February.
