Biography

2009 (Redshirt Junior): Played in nine games, making one start... completed 22 of 58 passes for 257 yards... ran the ball 28 times for 93 yards and one score... ran twice for 12 yards and completed two of six passes for 24 yards against Alabama (9/12)... carried four times for five yards and completed two of three passes for 21 yards against Rutgers (9/19)... had one carry for 11 yards and one completion for eight yards against Troy (10/17)... carried three times for 12 yards and completed one pass for 18 yards against Arkansas State (10/24)... started against Middle Tennessee (11/7), carrying eleven times for 17 yards and completing 14 of 38 passes for 178 yards... had the game-winning 28 yard touchdown run against North Texas (11/14)... had two carries for 16 yards against Florida (11/21)... had three carries for 12 yards in the season finale against Florida Atlantic (12/5).

2008 (Redshirt Sophomore): Played in six games, all as a reserve...completed 18-of-33 passes for 249 yards and a score...ran the ball 17 times for 46 yards... ran the ball twice, for 10 yards in the season opener at Kansas (8/30)... completed 11-of-20 attempts for 107 yards at Iowa (9/6)...threw for 71 yards on 3-of 8-passing and rushed for 22 yards vs. USF (9/20)...tossed his only touchdown of the season at Louisiana (11/1) when he completed all three of his pass attempts, amassing 58 yards.

2007 (Redshirt Freshman): Emerged as the team’s starting quarterback becoming only the fourth starting signal caller in the history of the program...finished the year completing 121-of-265 passes for 1,357 yards, nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions...also finished second on the team in rushing with 536 net yards (for a new FIU freshman rushing record), despite statistical losses of 165 yards from 22 sacks...led the team with 1,893 yards of total offense, an average of 172.1 yards per game...using his legs to get out of trouble in the pocket, set school records for rushing yards by a quarterback in consecutive weeks against Maryland (9/8) and Miami (9/15), and again against Arkansas (10/27)...owns the top seven rushing performances by a quarterback in FIU history...led the team with 28 rushes for first downs and with six rushes of greater than 20 yards each...scored 12 points on the year, which ranked tied for fourth best on the team and was on the passing end of 2-of-3 2-point conversion attempts...at Penn State (9/1): his 117 passing yards represented the second-most yards ever by a FIU quarterback in his starting debut up to that time...vs. Troy (10/6): Set a career high with 248 passing years on 19 completions, which was the most for a FIU quarterback in nearly a year and the sixth-highest passing total ever by a first-year starter for the Golden Panthers...at Arkansas (10/27): Rushed for 124 yards, which was the 12th-highest single-game total in FIU history and the fifth-most against a Football Bowl Subdivision team in FIU history...at Miami (9/15): Completed his longest pass of the year for 65 yards and a touchdown to running back Trenard Turner...at Arkansas State (11/3): Tossed two touchdowns and engineered a drive that culminated with a 2-point conversion that tied the game at 24 with 48 seconds remaining in regulation...vs. UL (11/17): Connected on two TD passes.

2006 (Freshman): Redshirted while spending time with the offensive scout team.

Cocoa High School: An all-around decorated athlete in high school who played four years of football, three each of basketball and baseball and a season of soccer for the Tigers...a shotgun quarterback named Florida Today’s 2005 Offensive Player of the Year after passing for 20 touchdowns and running for nine more in leading Cocoa to the second round of the Class 3A state playoffs...afterwards, selected as a third-team all-state utility player and first-team All-Space Coast...played in the North-South All-Star Game...excelled in baseball, hitting .438 with seven home runs and 39 RBI...Class 4A all-state infielder and team MVP.
