As a Redshirt Senior (2013): Served as FIU’s closer before being lost for the season due to injury…Converted on four saves for the Panthers…Picked up his first save of the season vs. Stony Brook (2/16)...Turned around the next day to earn his second-straight save vs. the Seawolves as he struck out the side (2/17)…Picked up his third save and struck out a batter vs. Manhattan (2/24)…Tallied his fourth and final save with a 1 2/3 innings outing vs. Texas Tech (2/25).

As a Junior (2012): Named to the 2011-12 SBC Academic Honor Roll for having a 3.0-3.49 GPA… Led the team and Sun Belt with 13 saves… Ranked No. 12 in the NCAA in saves… Finished the season with a 1-4 record and a 3.76 ERA in 38.1 IP with 40 strikeouts… First on the team with 28 appearances… Sported a .203 batting average against.

Prior to FIU: Played for Miami Dade College in Miami, Fla. during the 2010-11 season… Had a 2-1 record with a 3.15 ERA in 45.2 innings pitched with 39 strikeouts… Pitched for Brevard State College during the 2009-10 season and had an 0-2 record with a 6.00 ERA in 18.0 innings pitched with 27 strikeouts… Went to high school at G. Holm Braddock in Miami, Fla.

Personal: Born on October 17, 1991 in Miami, Fla…. Son of Pedro and Ivonne Gomez… Has two brothers, Gabriel and Javier… His brother, Javier, played baseball at Miami Dade College and Freed Hardeman University… Majoring in physical education.
