2013 (Sophomore): Made 14 starts for the Panthers during his sophomore year, posting a 5-4 record with a 5.23 ERA…Struck out 50 batters over 62 innings…Earned his first career victory in an FIU uniform vs. Stony Brook (2/17), striking out four batters over 2.2 innings pitched...Posted his second victory of the year against Rice (3/10)…Allowed just one run over five innings of work to earn the victory at FAU (3/17)…Improved to 4-1 with an impressive six-inning, three-strikeout and one-hit performance against Western Kentucky (3/24)…Earned another Sun Belt Conference victory at South Alabama (4/7), allowing two runs over 5.1 innings of work.  

Prior to FIU: Played for Britt Smith at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas and Corky Galleyoes at Moody High School in Corpus Christi, Texas… While at Howard he was named NJCAA first-team region 5 and Most Valuable Pitcher in 2011 with a 10-2 record and 2.84 ERA… Two-time WJCAC Champion… At Moody, he was a state champion in 2007 and state runner-up in 2009… Named all-state 4A (2009), all-south Texas (2010) and all-state (2010)… Had a pristine 15-0 record with a .85 ERA and 128 strikeouts as a senior while hitting .383 with seven home runs and 46 RBI… Hit .395 with six home runs and 47 RBI as a junior… Was recruited out of high school by Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Missouri and Baylor… Was teammate with former FIU first baseman and current Diamondback farmhand Rudy Flores at Moody.

Personal: Born on November 20, 1991 in Corpus Christi, Texas… Son of Maria and Marcial Franco… Enjoys fishing, hunting and spending time with family in his free time… Majoring in criminal justice.
