FIU Athletics

Redshirt Senior (2021): Appeared in 18 games, starting all 18 in left field… Hit .371 with a one home run and nine RBIs… Had 23 hits with four doubles… Drew four walks and was hit by five pitches for a .444 OB%... Collected eight multi-hit games… Had three three-hit games… Hit his lone of home run of the season against Wichita State on 3/21.

Senior (2020): Appeared in 15 games, started all 15 in left field... Hit .482 with two home runs and 14 RBIs... Had 27 hits with three doubles for a .643 SLG%... Drew three walks and was hit by two pitches for a .508 OB%... Ranked fourth nationally in batting average, eighth in hits per game (1.8) and 21st in total hits... Led the Panthers in batting average, slugging percentage, hits, RBIs, home runs, total bases (36) and stolen bases (5)... Also led FIU with nine multiple hit games with nine, six two-hit games, two three-hit games and one four-hit game... Drove in two on three hits and scored twice against Fordham on 2/16. *Canceled due to COVID-19 Outbreak*

Junior (2019): Appeared in 54 games, started 41.. Hit .253 with three home runs and 14 RBIs… Had 37 hits, six doubles and for a .356 SLG%... Drew 20 walks and was hit by five pitches… Accumulated a .358 OB%... Had four three-hit games against Rice (4/6), Southern Miss (4/12 & 4/13) and Old Dominion (4/20)… Drove in three runs against Seton Hall (3/10).   

Sophomore (2018): Appeared in 39 games, started 30... Hit .345 with four home runs and fifteen RBI... Had 38 hits with three doubles, four triples, had five HBPs, and a .555 SLG%... Had four three-hit game on the season... Was 3 for 5 with a home run and five RBIs against George Mason (3/11)... Was 3 for 4 with a home run, and a RBI against Louisiana Tech (3/29). 2018 C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. 

Prior to FIU: Played freshman year at ASA College where he hit .388 with 3 HR, 47 RBI and made all-region team...Played high school ball at Somerset Academy where he hit .359 with 6 HR, 61 RBI and had 103 hits in his career...Two-time 1st Team all-district, 2016 2nd Team all-county.

Personal: Son of Joao Teixeira and Ana Maria Martinez... Brother of FIU Pitcher JJ Teixeira... Majoring in sport management.
