Redshirted (2014).

Freshman (2013): Made 17 appearances for the Panthers during his freshman year, making two starts…Didn’t allow an earned run in his first four appearances, a combined 6.1 innings against Stony Brook (2/16), Bethune Cookman (2/20), Texas Tech (2/25) and Ole Miss (3/1)…Made his first career start vs. USF (3/13), logging six innings of two-hit ball, striking out four batters in the no-decision outing.

Prior to FIU: Played for Head Coach Phil Wisser at Coral Gables Senior High School in Coral Gables, Fla., where he was a career .350 hitter with two home runs and 65 RBI… Compiled a 9-2 record with a 1.20 ERA and 65 strikeouts his senior season… He threw a no-hitter against Hialeah Gardens in the 2012 class 8A regional quarterfinal game… His Cavaliers went on to win the district championships… Member of the Florida Legends where he played in the Connie Mack World Series… Also recruited by FAU, Samford and Maine… Was named Academic Athlete of the Year  and team MVP as a senior at Coral Gables.

Personal: Born on April 19, 1994 in Miami, Fla…. Son of Marsha and Jose Maya… Has two brothers, Greg and Ryan… Enjoys fishing and being outdoors in his free time… Majoring in health services with hopes of being a CEO at a major hospital.
