Biography

Sophomore (2016): Hit .275 with 3 HR and 29 RBI...Second on the team with 13 doubles and 36 runs scored, had one triple...Stole 9 of 11 bases...Started the season hitting in six of the first eight games (10 for 33)...Had a season-high four hits at UAB (5/14), was 6 for 14 with five RBI against the Blazers in the series.

Freshman (2015): Hit .281 with 2 HR and 28 RBI...Also had eight doubles, two triples and scored 44 runs...Second on the team with six steals in 13 attempts...Committed just two errors...Collected first college hit on Opening Night against Tennessee (2/13)...Went 5 for 18 with five RBI at the Coastal Carolina tournament (2/21-22)...Hit his first college home run against North Carolina Central (2/22) -- a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 13th inning in Myrtle Beach, S.C...Was 6 for 18 against Manhattan (2/27-3/1)...Had his first three-hit game at Southern Miss (3/14) going 3 for 4, went 5 for 10 against the Golden Eagles in the three-game series...Was 5 for 14 against UTSA (4/3-5)...Went 4 for 7 with a pair of doubles against Jacksonville (5/5-6)...Was 3 for 5 with three runs scored and a double against UTSA (5/21) at the Conference USA Championship.

Prior to FIU: Played high school ball at Springboro (Ohio) High where he hit .506 with 8 HR. Named team MVP and all-state in baseball in 2014...Was a dual-threat quarterback for Springboro where he threw for 1,500 yards and ran for 1,200 yards during his high school career. Named All-state in football in 2013. Helped football team to conference championships in 2013, 2014...Honor student in 2013, 2014. 

Personal: Born January 9, 1996 to Doug and Jodi Schaaf in Springboro, Ohio...Father, Doug played baseball at Michigan...Has five brothers and one sister...Majoring in business management...Recruited by Ball State, Kentucky, Michigan, Yale, Ohio State, Duke and Louisville.
