Prior to FIU: Played one season at Miami Dade College in Miami, Fla. and one season at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.... 2009 Florida JUCO Pitcher of the Year at Miami Dade College with a record of 11-1 and a 1.73 ERA with 69 strikeouts in 73 innings... Was pitcher of the year in the Southern Conference during his season at MDC... 2009 Second-Team All-American at MDC... Helped Miami Dade College win the Southern Conference Championship... Selected to the FCCAA/Florida First Team... Three-year varsity player for Westminster Christian High School under Emil Castellanos and Eddie Reyes... Was team captain as a senior... Was 13-1 over a two year period with a 1.65 ERA... Second team all-county as a senior... Varsity basketball player for three seasons while being named captain his senior campaign.
