2009 (Junior):
Was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference First Team…finished the season with 45
tackles, 4.5 for loss and two interceptions… recorded seven tackles, all of
them solo, against Alabama (9/12)… had three stops against Rutgers (9/19)… was
credited with two tackles and one interception against Toledo (9/26)… made six
tackles, five unassisted and two for loss, and one interception against ULM
(10/3)… had three stops at WKU (10/10)… recorded five tackles against Troy
(10/17)…made three stops against Louisiana (10/31)… had six tackles, all of
them unassisted, against Middle Tennessee (11/7)… made two stops against North
Texas (11/14)… had two tackles against Florida (11/21)… finished the year
strong with a six-tackle performance against Florida Atlantic (12/5).
2008 (Sophomore): Was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference First Team...Named Miami Herald First-Team All-Florida...named the SBC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of (10/11) after picking off two passes against Middle Tennessee and returning one for a score...led all Sun Belt players with four interceptions in conference play...had five interceptions overall... led the Sun Belt Conference in pass breakups per game with nine, giving him 1.29 per game, which was .43 more than the second-place finisher...broke up 16 passes overall for an average of 1.33 per game... recorded 44 tackles, including 32 solo...recovered one fumble, returning it for 20 yards...in the season-opener at Kansas (10/30) recorded four solo tackles, including one for a loss...at Iowa (9/6) recorded five tackles and broke up two passes...vs. USF (9/20) recorded eight tackles and broke up a pass...had a season-high nine tackles at Toledo (9/27)...broke up two passes against the Rockets...recorded five tackles at North Texas (10/4), picked off a pas and recovered a fumble...intercepted two passes vs. Middle Tennessee (10/11) for 98 yards, including one he returned 27 yards for a score... had three un-assisted tackles at Louisiana (11/1)... vs. Arkansas State (11/8) recorded three tackles... vs. ULM (11/22) recorded two tackles, including one for a loss, and picked off one pass...at FAU (11/29) recorded three tackles and broke up two passes...in the season finale against WKU (12/6) picked off one pass, returning it 78 yards for a touchdown...one of just 6 players to start in all 12 games.
2007 (Freshman): Started 11-of-12 games at cornerback...led the team with two interceptions...led all freshman and ranked fifth on the team with 56 tackles, including 31 solo stops...recorded three tackles for loss and a sack...broke up three passes and had one fumble recovery...recorded three special teams tackles on kickoff coverage...vs. North Texas (12/1): Recorded career highs with six solo tackles and 10 total tackles...broke up on pass...vs. FAU (11/24): Made four tackles and broke up a pass...vs. UL (11/17): Made five tackles and recovered a fumble in the second quarter that led to a FIU field goal...at Arkansas State (11/3): Made five tackles...at Arkansas (10/27): Made five tackles and intercepted a pass in the end zone in the first quarter...at ULM (10/20): Had five solo tackles, including two for a loss of 14 yards...recorded the first sack of his career for a loss of nine yards in the second quarter...vs. Troy (10/6): Had six tackles and one tackle for a loss of five yards...at Middle Tennessee (9/29): Registered two solo tackles...at Kansas (9/22): Made three solo tackles and totaled four tackles...at Miami (9/15): Made his first career interception in the first quarter at the FIU 22-yard line to stop a Miami drive...also had one pass breakup...vs. Maryland (9/8): Made his first career start at corner and had three tackles...at Penn State (9/1): Came off the bench to make two solo tackles in his collegiate debut.
Miami Northwestern High School: A second-team All-Miami-Dade County performer who was instrumental in Northwestern’s 2006 6A state championship...recorded 87 total tackles on the year and seven interceptions...a member of Team USA at the NFL Global Junior Championships whose 96-yard interception for a score lifted USA over Team Mexico...selected FIU over interest from Bowling Green.
