2007 (Redshirt Junior): Handled all of FIU’s kickoff duties and split time with Dustin Rivest on field goals...played in all 12 games...averaged 60 yards per kickoff with one touchback on 41 kickoffs...converted 5-of-8 field goal attempts (62.5 percent) and 9-of-11 PAT attempts to lead the team in scoring with 24 points...made his first four field goal attempts of the season...vs. North Texas (12/1): Averaged 66.1 yards per kickoff on a season-high seven kickoffs...vs. Florida Atlantic (11/24): Kicked off five times for 270 yards (54.0 yards/kickoff)...vs. Louisiana (11/17): Averaged 57.2 yards per kickoff on five kicks...at Arkansas State (10/27): Kicked off four times for 255 yards for an average of 63.8 yards and missed on a 42-yard field-goal attempt...at Arkansas (10/27): Kicked a 35-yard field goal vs. the Razorbacks on the last play of the first half...also kicked off twice...at ULM (10/20): Averaged 64.0 yards on three kickoffs, but missed on a 37-yard field-goal attempt...vs. Troy (10/6): Connected on a 39-yard field goal in the second quarter...averaged 52.7 yards on three kickoffs...at Middle Tennessee (9/29): Averaged 63.0 yards on three kickoffs...at Kansas (9/22): Connected on his only field-goal attempt of the game, a 39-yarder in the first quarter...at Miami (9/15): Hit a 24-yard field goal in the third quarter and averaged 64.0 yards on four kickoffs...vs. Maryland (9/8): Hit on his first career field goal from 42 yards in the fourth quarter...averaged 51.7 yards on three kickoffs...at Penn State (9/1): Put the ball in the end zone for a touchback on his first career kickoff to open the second half.

Prior to FIU: Redshirted his freshman season in 2005 at Southeast Missouri State University before transferring to FIU.

Cypress Bay High School: A second-team All-Broward selection as a senior kicker...played in the North vs. South All-Star Game and was ranked as the nation’s third-best high school kicker in 2005...seven-of-9 on field goals with a long of 54 yards while also converting 29-of-30 PATs as a senior.

Personal: Born July 30, 1986...son of Eduardo and Mary Leigh Abed...majoring in political science...received interest from Auburn, Florida and Bowling Green coming out of high school.
