2005 (Junior): A big hitter who manned the strong safety position with seven starts over 10 games...finished second on the team with 75 total tackles (47 solo)...recorded double-digit stops twice, with 14 tackles (five unassisted) vs. Western Kentucky (11/19) and 12 (eight unassisted) at Arkansas State (9/24)...had at least two tackles in every game he played...ended the season with 4.5 tackles for losses of minus-28 yards, including one against nationally-ranked Texas Tech (9/10) that resulted in a 22-yard loss...collected his lone sack of the year at Arkansas State...also forced a fumble and recovered another against ASU...picked off his first career interception with a 16-yard return in the upset victory over Louisiana-Monroe (11/5)...broke up four pass plays.
2004 (Sophomore): Played mostly at safety but coaches tinkered with him as a nickel linebacker...a valuable special teams performer...appeared in six games, gaining a start in the final game of the year at Florida Atlantic (12/4) where he had a career day...involved in 10 tackles (four solo) against the Owls with an assisted tackle for a loss...finished the season with 18 tackles (11 solo)...picked up five unassisted stops against Florida A&M (11/27)...prior to that, had single tackles at Youngstown State (9/11), and against nationally-ranked Stephen F. Austin (10/9) and Western Kentucky (11/20).
2003 (Freshman): Saw action in 10 games, starting twice at the free safety position...made 23 tackles (10 solo), including a season-high seven stops against Carson-Newman (9/27)...credited with three unassisted tackles in games versus Carson-Newman and Jacksonville (10/30)...recorded a tackle for a minus-3-yard loss vs. C-N and recovered a fumble against JU...returned two kickoffs at nationally-ranked Maine (9/13) for 25 yards, with a long return of 15 yards.
Gainesville High School: An all-around prep athlete who played four years of football, and two seasons each of baseball and basketball...an all-state football player as a senior and all-area as both a junior and senior for head coach Rick Swain...team captain and Defensive Player of the Year for the Hurricanes and recipient of the Leadership Award and team MVP as a senior...helped Gainesville to a 2000 district title...extracurricular activities included memberships in SAAD, SECME and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
