2007 (Junior): Played in 11 games and started the last 10 on the defensive line...ended the season with 21 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack and a pass breakup...vs. North Texas (12/1): Recorded three tackles...vs. FAU (11/24): Started but did not have any tackles...vs. UL (11/17): Assisted on two tackles...at Arkansas State (11/3): Assisted on two tackles...at Arkansas (10/27): Made one solo tackle and broke up one pass...at ULM (10/20): Registered one solo tackle...vs. Troy (10/6): Started, but did not have any tackles...at Middle Tennessee (9/29): Recorded three tackles, including two solo tackles...at Kansas (9/22): Made two tackles...at Miami (9/15): Assisted on one tackle in his first start of the season...vs. Maryland (9/8): Came off the bench to record a career-high six tackles, including a sack for a one-yard loss in his first action of the season.

2006 (Sophomore): Mainstay at defensive tackle where he started eight of the 10 games he played...21 tackles on the year were the second-most among defensive linemen on the team...season-best five stops (one solo), assisted on a tackle for loss and involved in a pass breakup in the seven-overtime game at North Texas (10/7)...credited with three tackles (two unassisted) and a sack against Maryland (9/23)...also had three tackles in games at Miami (10/14) and against Troy (12/2) and Louisiana-Lafayette (11/18)...picked up his second sack of the year versus UL.

2005 (Freshman): Saw action in six games and recorded four tackles, two of those were sacks for minus-eight yards...picked up one tackle in games at Texas Tech (9/10), Florida A&M (10/1), North Texas (10/15) and at Louisiana-Monroe (11/5)...broke his left hand during spring drills but returned and practiced with a cast.

South Dade High School: A 2004 signee who was unable to enroll at FIU until second semester when he competed in 2005 spring drills...a three-year varsity letterwinner for coach Don Drinkhahn...third-team all-county selection...honored with the team’s MVP Defensive Lineman Award, Senior Award and was a two-time Varsity Award winner

Personal: Born July 30, 1986...chose FIU over interest shown by Florida, Iowa, Oregon and Louisville...son of Hildra Penerton and Betty Holmes...criminal justice major.
