Biography

2012 (Senior): Participated in the Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine…was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference First-Team this offseason after a standout senior year for the Panthers…the postseason recognition from the Sun Belt was the fourth in his collegiate career…was named to the second-team his sophomore and junior seasons and honorable mention as a freshman…was also tapped a First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference pick by the Phil Steele publication…named to the Thorpe Award 2012 Preseason Watch List...selected to the first-ever Senior Bowl Watch List...voted by league coaches and media to the 2012 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference team...named as Blue Ribbon’s Sun Belt Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year...earned unanimous preseason All-Sun Belt Conference First-Team honors from Athlon’s, Blue Ribbon, CBSSports.com, Lindy’s and Phil Steele, as well as Lindy’s No. 3 NFL talent in the Sun Belt Conference...named to the Bleacher Report’s national ‘Best of the Rest’ Preseason Defense First-Team…serves as one of the team captains for 2012...widely-regarded as the top safety to ever play at FIU, Cyprien once again led the team in tackles in 2012 with 93, including FIU highs in solo stops (54) and assisted tackles (39)…also recorded a team-high four interceptions, along with five pass breakups, 3.5 tackles for loss and one forced fumble…started all 12 games in 2012, as well as every game the past three seasons (2010-12), and has started the most career games at safety at FIU (45), which is the third-most amount of starts at any position for a Panther…standout senior season also led to the re-writing of several defensive records that will stand for some time…now the school record holder for total tackles (365) [which also rank in the top four all-time in Sun Belt Conference history], solo tackles (213) and fumbles forced (six)…also ranks among the all-time best for pass breakups (second, 22), interceptions (fourth, 7), assisted tackles (fourth, 152) and fumbles recovered (fourth, 3).
 
2011 (Junior): All-Sun Belt Conference Second-Team...recorded 81 tackles (third-highest on the team), along with 5.5 tackles for loss and a team-high eight passes broken up...tackle total was good for 18th in the Sun Belt...started all 13 games…eight pass break-ups tied for third all-time in a season in program history...was the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 21 after his nine-tackle performance in the road win, 28-17, at ULM...in the ULM game, he also recorded an interception…recorded one blocked kick at WKU (11/5)…had a season-high 11 tackles at Louisville (9/9)…had nine tackles and a 9-yard interception return for a touchdown at ULM (11/19)...had a season-high three pass break-ups vs. North Texas (9/1)...the three pass break-ups tied for third all-time in a single game in program history.
 
2010 (Sophomore): All-Sun Belt Conference Second-Team...First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference from Phil Steele...led the team with 113 tackles, the fourth-best single-season total in FIU history...opened the season with a nine-tackle performance against Rutgers (9/11)...had 11 tackles and two forced fumbles against Texas A&M (9/18)...had six tackles and a forced fumble against Maryland (9/25)...had 11 tackles against Pitt (10/2)...set a career-high with 13 tackles against WKU (10/9)...matches his career-best with 13 stops against FAU (10/30)...also forced a fumble against the Owls... had five stops and an interception against Troy (11/13)...had 10 tackles against Louisiana (11/20)...had six tackles and broke up two passes against Arkansas State (11/27)...closed out the season with eight tackles and one pass breakup against Middle Tennessee (12/4)…closed out the year with an eight tackle performance against Toledo in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl…also broke up a pass against the Rockets.
 
2009 (Freshman): Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt Conference...appeared in all 12 games, starting seven…second on the team with 78 tackles…recorded one interception, three breakups and forced two fumbles…opened the year with four solo tackles against Alabama (9/12)…had three stops against Rutgers (9/19)…recorded four tackles, three of them unassisted against Toledo (9/26)…made five stops against ULM (10/3)…had a season-high 10 stops against Western Kentucky (10/10)…credited for six tackles, including five unassisted against Troy (10/17)…had six  tackles against Arkansas State (10/24)…against Louisiana (10/31), had nine stops…made seven solo stops against Middle Tennessee (11/7)…registered five tackles against North Texas…had a season-best nine unassisted tackles against Florida (11/21)…closed out the year by matching his season-best in tackles with 10 stops against FAU (12/5).
 
North Miami Beach: Served as team captain as a senior...Miami Herald All-Dade and District 12-6A First-Team...also recruited by Western Michigan.
 
Personal: Son of Kennel and Roselaure Cyprien...has four siblings, Clay, Schnider, Sheena and Christian...was on the honor roll at NMB...majoring in Physical Therapy.
