2005 (Sophomore): Patience and hard work paid dividends when offensive line injuries propelled him into the starting lineup at offensive guard in FIU’s Sun Belt Conference upset over Louisiana-Monroe (11/5) and at Louisiana-Lafayette (11/12)...unfortunately, a shoulder injury against UL Lafayette ended his season after just six game appearances.

2004 (Redshirt): Did not compete for FIU during the 2004 season...improved spring showing moved him up the depth chart as a top offensive line reserve.

2003 (Freshman): Saw action in two games, getting in on 17 plays with no penalties or sacks allowed.

Hialeah Miami Lakes High School: A first-team All-Dade County lineman and three-year starter for head coach Jeffrey Rogers...listed among the Top-20 county prep players by the Miami Herald...ranked No. 123 in the State of Florida by Floridakids.net...picked to the all-state third team by the Florida Sportswriters Association...a District 20 all-star and a performer in the Dade/Broward All-Star Game...considered a great pass blocker by scouts...named the Trojans’ Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Personal: Born December 6, 1984...selected FIU over interest shown by Florida A&M, Bethune-Cookman, Eastern Kentucky and UMass...son of Miguel and Natty Alvarez...Criminal Justice major.
