2005 (Junior): Manned the right guard position for the first six games of the season before a broken left leg suffered against Troy (10/20) sidelined him for the rest of the year...returned to practice during spring drills and a full recovery is expected in the fall.
2004 (Sophomore): One of the strongest players on the team...continued to show progress as an offensive lineman where he played in, and started, all 10 games at the right guard position...helped FIU rank No. 42 in total offense (382.78 ypg) and 54th in scoring (27.89)...line allowed only nine sacks of its quarterback...graded out at 80-85-percent all season...instrumental in running back Rashod Smith becoming the first 1,000-yard rusher in school history.
2003 (Freshman): After going both ways in high school, settled in on the offensive line where he played in three games...efforts in the weight room kept him in the mix up front.
Avon Old Farms High School: First-team all-league performer and a member of the All-New England team in Class 1A for head coach Kevin Driscoll...led the team in pancakes and was instrumental in Avon Old Farms’ team success...recorded 11 quarterback sacks and eight more tackles for loss...won the football Heavy Weight Championship with 1,485 pounds...came to this country from Peru as a freshman and spent his first three years of high school at Miami Springs H.S where he played two years of football for head coach Buddy Goins, and soccer....in soccer, scored 11 goals with eight assists as a senior...helped the Golden Hawks’ soccer team to a district championship.
Personal: Born November 2, 1981...son of Javier David Silva...married last Dec. 22 to wife Karianne...also recruited by Connecticut, Rutgers, Syracuse, Maryland, Boston College and Massachusetts...Criminal Justice major.
