Biography

2013 (Senior): Appeared in nine games for the Panthers in 2014, making eight starts…Recorded 33 total tackles on the year, 24 of them solo…Tallied three tackles for a loss…Grabbed two interceptions, broke up four passes and defended six…Was also the team’s primary punt returner, returning eight for 105 yards, an average of 13.1 yards per return and a long of 42 yards…Additionally had five kick returns, totaling 92 yards.
 
2012 (Junior): Appeared in all 12 games, starting six…finished fourth on the team with 62 total tackles, including 38 solo stops and 24 assisted…also had 4.0 tackles for loss for 27 yards, 2.0 sacks for 21 yards, one interception, five pass break-ups, one quarterback hurry, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble…also played a prominent role in special teams returns, totaling 12 returns (six punt and six kickoff)…returned six punts for 34 yards (5.7 avg.) with a long of 19…had six kickoff returns for 145 yards (24.2 avg.) with a long of 32…began the season with an interception, along with three tackles (1-2) at Duke (9/1)…recorded six tackles, five solo, and one tackle for loss vs. Akron (9/8)…had another six tackle effort the following week at UCF (9/15)…put together a season-high nine-tackle performance vs. Middle Tennessee (10/13), including seven solo tackles, an 11-yard sack and one forced fumble…recorded six tackles (4-2) at Troy (10/20), including one tackle for loss (for four yards)…recorded his most tackles on the road, seven (4-3), at South Alabama (11/3) with one fumble recovered…had five tackles (2-3) in the Shula Bowl at Florida Atlantic (11/16)…closed the season with seven tackles (6-1) vs. ULM (11/24), including a ten-yard sack…had a career-high three punt returns for 26 yards vs. Akron, with a career-best 19-yard return…his two kick returns for 60 yards, with a long of 32 yards, at USA were career-highs...named to Phil Steele’s 2012 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference First-Team.
 
2011 (Sophomore): Made a huge impact as a first-year starter, finishing fourth on the team with 63 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss for 18 yards, 3.0 sacks for 15 yards, two interceptions, five passes broken up and two fumble recoveries...tackle total was good for 39th in the Sun Belt...passes broken-up total was tied for 19th in the Sun Belt...helped the defensive secondary become of the nation’s top units, resulting in the No. 13 pass efficiency defense, No. 14 scoring defense, No. 22 in red zone efficiency defense and No. 30 total defense...received College Football Performance Awards Honorable Mention National Defensive Player of the Week recognition in week No. 2 from College Football Performance Awards for his performance in the big win, 24-17, on the road at eventual Big East Co-Champion Louisville...in the game versus the Cardinals, Miller had six tackles from his defensive secondary position, along with three tackles for loss for 16 yards, two sacks for 14 yards, and a critical fumble recovery...played in 13 games, started nine games...had a season-high 11 tackles vs. Marshall (12/20) in the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl...recorded eight tackles vs. Troy (10/25) and vs. Florida Atlantic (11/12)…had three tackles for loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery at Louisville (9/9)…had interceptions vs. Troy (10/25) and at WKU (11/5).
 
2010 (Freshman): Played in 11 games, all as a reserve, making five stops, two of them unassisted.
 
La Salle: Committed to FIU on Sept. 15, 2009…versatile high school athlete, who played multiple sports, as well as football positions on offense, defense and special teams…saw action at linebacker, cornerback, safety, wide receiver, running back and quarterback for the Royal Lions…2009 Florida Sports Writers Association Class 2B All-State Second-Team Defense…2009 Miami Herald Class 3A-1B All-Dade First-Team Defense…as a senior, recorded 81 tackles with seven interceptions…2008 Miami Herald Class 3A-1A All-Dade First-Team Defense, chosen as an Athlete…as a junior, had 115 tackles, three interceptions, 100 carries for 598 yards and seven touchdowns…impressively, was a 2006 Miami Herald Class 3A-1A All-Dade First-Team pick as a freshman – the lone freshman to be chosen…had two interceptions, two punt returns for touchdowns and four forced fumbles...coached by Willie Trimmer…was a standout guard on the basketball team…a three-time Miami Herald Class 4A-1A All-Dade Basketball honoree…earned second-team status in 2009 and 2010 and honorable mention in 2008...also ran the 100 meter sprints for the track team.
 
Personal: Parents - Sam Miller and Patty Horton-Hugue..sibling - Samaria...born July 20, 1992...majoring in Criminal Justice...began playing football at age six...played youth football for the Suniland Sun Devils and Palmetto Raiders...played with current FIU teammate, Sam Gervais, in high school.
