Redshirt Sophomore (2008): Named to the preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Team ... Redshirted

 

Sophomore (2007): Named First-Team All-Sun Belt after ranking third in the conference in kills per game (4.08)... ranks ninth at FIU in career kills coming into her junior season with 795... had a career-high 28 kills against RichKern.com/AVCA regionally-ranked Northeastern (8/24), the fourth-highest kill total in the Sun Belt of the year... broke FIU’s rally scoring-era record for kills in a three-game match with 23 in the win versus regionally-ranked Florida Gulf Coast (11/6)... had 20-plus kills in six matches... posted a double-double with 22 kills and a career-high 13 digs against Notre Dame (11/1), which was receiving votes in the national poll at the time... had a career-high nine blocks in Sun Belt quarterfinal against UALR (11/15), and a then-career-high eight blocks in matches against Oral Roberts (9/8) and Middle Tennessee (10/27)... hit over .400 in six matches, including a season-high .591 against Arkansas State (10/19) in which she posted her second double-double of the year with 16 kills and 10 digs in the three-game match... was named the MVP of the Stetson Invitational after leading the team to the tournament title with 5.14 kills per game while hitting at a .311 clip for the event.

Freshman (2006): Ranked in the Sun Belt’s top 10 in kills per game both overall (9th, 3.57 kpg) and in league play (8th, 3.86 kpg)... also was ninth in the conference in hitting percentage in Sun Belt play (.326)... a two-way player who had three double-doubles on the year... named Sun Belt Player of the Week after her .789 hitting percentage (16 kills, 1 error, 19 attacks) against Troy (11/10) had broken the school record (which was topped by Anita Szymanska’s .846 (11-0-13) six days later at the Sun Belt tournament)... it ended up being the third highest hitting percentage in the Sun Belt for the year... she also hit .667 (15-3-18) against UALR, which tied for the tenth-best in the Sun Belt overall last season and was the fourth best on the team... had a career-high 26 kills on two occasions, including a four-game win over West co-leaders Denver in which she also hit .365 and had 10 digs and five aces... had three 20-plus kill matches and reached double digits in kills 19 times... posted seven matches with over a .400 hitting percentage and had double digit kills in six of them... had a career-high seven blocks in the team’s first meeting with Western Kentucky (10/13)... was the lone Golden Panther named to all-tournament team at the Hilton Garden Inn Greenbelt Invitational (University of Maryland) after pounding 4.62 kills per game at a .285 clip... started in 31 of 32 matches played.

Prior to FIU: Won the Girls Youth European Championship in 2005 with the Ukrainian Youth National Team.

Personal: Born Sept. 12 1988, in Zaporozhje, Ukraine... daughter of Valery and Anna Vergun, both of whom competed in rowing... mother was a rower on the Soviet National Team which took fourth at the 1976 Olympics, while her sister, Polina, previously played club volleyball in Moscow... enjoys reading... International Relations major...nicknamed "Olly."
