2014 (Sophomore): Played in 14 games, making seven starts…Played 692 total minutes on the season…Averaged 1.14 shots-per-game...Opened the year playing a season-high 76 minutes at Michigan (8/29) in the 1-0 victory…Recorded three-straight starts and tallied three shots in back-to-back games against Stetson (9/5) and at Elon (9/10)…Scored his first goal of the season at Charlotte (10/11) in the 4-3 defeat…Logged his first assist of the year in the 2-0 victory over Florida Atlantic (10/29).  

2013 (Freshman): Played in 16 games during his freshman season, making five starts…Played a total of 636 minutes, tallying one goal and an assist…Recorded 15 shots, putting nine of them on goal…Scored his first career goal at San Diego State (9/1) in a 5-3 victory over the Aztecs…Added an assist vs. Jacksonville (9/22) in a 2-0 win over the Dolphins…Played a career-high 90 minutes in a 4-3 victory at Florida Gulf Coast (9/7).

Prior to FIU: Played for Jesse Gutierrez at Duarte High School in Duarte, Calif. (2010-11) and for Jim Wandling at St. Benedict’s Prep (2012-13) in Newark, N.J…. Named the Newark Star-Ledger Prep Player of the Year in 2012 after helping St. Benedict’s to an 18-0 season, a 24th-straight state title and a second-straight ESR Fall Top 50 national crown… Scored 11 goals and had 16 assists in 2012… Plays for Head Coach Sam Nellins at the Players Development Academy in New Jersey… Started all four contests he played in 2013… In 2011, won the MLS Generation Adidas U17 Cup… scored seven goals while making 17 starts and 21 appearances with the Galaxy’s Under-15/16 Development Academy team.

Personal: Born on April 9, 1995 in Baldwin Park, Calif…Is the son of Daisy and Jose España...Has an older sister, Jennifer España…Plans on majoring in International Business at FIU…Was also recruited by UCLA and UC Santa Barbara.
