FIU Athletics

2018 (Senior): Appeared in 12 games, making nine starts… Olafsen was one of three seniors to help provide leadership for the Panthers in 2018… He was a mainstay on the backline for the Panthers and recorded 90-or-more minutes in six games throughout the year… Olafsen logged a total of 862 minutes on the season. 

2017 (Junior): Appeared in 16 games, with 14 starts… An anchor on the back line, Olafsen assisted the Panthers in three of their five shutouts on the year, against Conference USA opponents Marshall (10/7) and No. 24 New Mexico (10/21), and against Omaha (11/16) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament… He assisted the Panthers in a program-first undefeated regular season, and an eight-match winning-streak… He totaled over 1,200 minutes on the year.
 
2016 (Sophomore at UConn): Started all 19 games at center back for UConn... Named to the American Athletic Conference Second Team... Two-time American Defensive Player of the Week in 2016 (Oct. 3, Nov. 7)... Scored against Cincinnati on Oct. 8... Headed home a goal against SMU in the regular season finale on Nov. 5… Helped UConn record six shutouts and record a conference-leading 0.77 goal against average.
 
2015 (Freshman at UConn): Appeared and started in 21 matches for the Huskies as a center back… Named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team… Helped UConn record seven shutouts and a league-best 0.76 goals against average… scored the game-winner in UConn’s 4-0 win over Temple in the American Athletic Conference quarterfinals on Nov. 9 at Morrone Stadium… Dished out one helper and finished the season with three total points.
 
Prior to UConn: Played for the Norwegian U15, U17 and U19 squads… Won a national championship in Norway with the Vaalerenga U17 team… Also catapined the Vaalerenga recruits in 2014… Also earned playing time for Follo FK.
 
Personal: Son of Arne Jørgen and Wenche … He has two older sisters, Helene and Monika … Mother competed for the University of New Mexico and father competed for Bemidji State University in cross country skiing… Sister Helene competed for Norway in the 2010 Vancouver and 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics in snowboarding … Plans on majoring in economics at FIU.
