FIU Athletics

2011 (Freshman): Hit .295 (13-for-44) while playing in 25 games and starting eight... Hit two home runs with 10 RBI and eight runs scored... Had four multi-hit and multi-RBI games... Had a pinch-hit two RBI home run in the first game of a double header against MVSU (2/26)... Tied the score at 1-1 in the third inning with a solo shot against Louisiana (5/28) in an eventual extra-innings victory in the conference tournament to send the Panthers to the championship game.

Prior to FIU: Played at both Pace and Archbishop McCarthy High Schools, finishing his senior year at McCarthy... Was named second-team All-Dade his sophomore year... Hit .515 with four home runs as a sophomore, .350 with two home runs as a junior and .420 with four home runs in his senior campaign ... Won the state championship his senior year at Archbishop McCarthy... A member of the National Honor Society all four years of high school.

Personal: Born December 11, 1991 in Miami Lakes, Fla.... Son of Javier and Maria Vazquez... Has a younger sister, Sarah and an older brother, Andre... His older brother Andre was a pitcher at FIU... His father Javier played at Indian River and was drafted by the Yankees... Majoring in business with aspirations of going to law school... Enjoying boating and fishing... was also recruited by Vanderbilt, Elon and High Point, the alma mater of Head Coach, Turtle Thomas.
