Biography
Senior (2010-11): Appeared in 16 games with one start…Tied career high nine points and added six rebounds in 15 minutes of playing time against Montana State (11/14)… Played extended minutes (17) in win against Louisiana (2/9), tallying seven points, three rebounds and a steal while emerging as a defensive presence inside… Averaged nearly 19 minutes over the next four games, helping FIU reach a number of milestone victories: The team’s first 100-point game in 13 years (FAU 2/19); the team’s first sweep of WKU (2/23) in nine years; and the team’s first 10-win conference season in nine years with a victory over Troy (2/26) on Senior Day, when she recorded her only start of the season.
Junior (2009-10): Appeared in nine games...scored first points of the season in home opening win vs. Jacksonville (11/17)...grabbed six rebounds and dished an assist vs Barry (12/2).
Sophomore (2008-09): Played in 18 games with her lone start coming at Arkansas State (12/17)... Averaged 1.3 points and 1.4 boards per game... Scored a career-best nine points against South Alabama (12/20)... Pulled down a season-high eight rebounds vs. WKU (1/7).
Freshman (2007-08): Played in 27 games including her first career start at UALR (12/22)... Averaged 1.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game...Scored a career-high eight points on two different occasions against Providence (11/23) and Florida Atlantic (1/5)... Pulled down a career-high seven rebounds versus South Florida (11/29) and then topped that with nine in her next game at Miami (12/4)... Scored in 15 of her 27 games played... Led the team in rebounding against South Florida (11/29).
Prep Career: Played on the Ridzene youth club team, winning the Latvian championship on four occasions (2002-04, 2007), coming in second in 2005 and third in 2006... Named MVP of the Riga city championship in 2007... Also played for her high school, Natalija Dravdzina... Garnered all-star accolades as the team placed third in the high school championship in 2007.
Personal: Born May 7, 1988, in Smiltene, Latvia... Parents are Ainars and Ira Jekabsone... Has one sister, Lasma, who graduated in 2006 as FIU's all-time career blocks leader and was the 18th Golden Panther to score 1,000 points... Father, Ainars, was a professional volleyball player in Latvia.
