Biography

As a Redshirt Senior (2014) – The driving force to FIU’s offense, she became one of the five most potent scorers in FIU history following her 13th career game-winning goal versus the Pacific Tigers on Aug. 31… On five occasions, she registered her team’s game-winner, which ranked No. 27 nationally… Scored 12 points in a five-game span midway through the season (Sept. 12 - Sept. 28), which included two, two-goal games… Finished her career with FIU as the fourth-highest goal scorer with 32 goals… As one of just five players in program history to accumulate at least 30 goals in a career, Leiva is No.2 in career assists with 19, following her helper at UTEP... Graduates ranked tied for No. 4 all-time with 87 points… Finished in the top five within Conference USA in shots (5th, 67), shots-per-game (5th, 3.72) and first in game-winning goals (1st, 5)… Also finished sixth in the league in goals scored (8)… Ends career with 283 shots, the second-most in program history.

As a Senior (2013): Missed season and red shirted due to injury.

As a Junior (2012): Earned Second-Team All-South Region honors…Named First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference…Received all-tournament honors during the SBC Tournament, notching a goal and two assists as FIU advanced to the 2012 finals…Appeared and started in all 21 games for the Panthers…Led FIU in points (29 – 11g, 7a)…Her 29 points were the second-most in the conference) and increased her career total to 68 points (No. 6 all-time at FIU)…Scored a team-high 11 goals (No. 3 in the conference), increasing her career total to 26 (No. 6 all-time at FIU)…Tied career-high in assists (7)…Ended the season with 16 career assists (No. 3 all-time at FIU)…Registered a conference-high 91 shots (single-season, FIU record)...Notched at least one goal or one assist in 10 contests…Tallied three-or-more-points five times…Registered first-career hat trick, during FIU’s 6-0 win over Idaho (9/9), becoming the 14th player in the FIU history to register at hat trick…For her efforts, she earned SBC Offensive Player of the Week honors and was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week….Was selected as the 2012 SBC Preseason Player of the Year.

As a Sophomore (2011): Second-team All-Sun Belt Conference member…Selected to the All-SBC Tournament team…Started in 22-of-23 matches…Tied for the team lead in goals with five…Led the Panthers in assists with a career-high seven and points with 17…Notched the game-winning score on 9/30 against Troy and on 10/28 against FAU…Also registered her second-career two-goal contest against FAU…Assisted in three game-winning goals against Florida Tech (8/29), Denver (10/16), and ULM (10/20)…Four of her assists came in conference play, good for third in the league…In SBC play, finished tied-for-seventh in the conference with 12 points and tied-for-ninth with four goals…Was selected as the 2011 SBC Preseason Player of the Year.  Saw action in the opening round of the NCAA tournament against UCF on 11/11. In this round she recorded 2 shots and 1 shot on goal.

As a Freshman (2010): All-Sun Belt Conference First Team honoree… Co-SBC Freshman of the Year… Named NSCAA South Region Third Team... Led FIU with 10 goals, 22 points and a conference-best five game winners… Finished tied for third in conference for goals scored… First freshman Panther since 1998 to hit the 10-goal mark… Started all 21 games… Became third freshman in school history to ride a four-game scoring streak… Kicked off streak with first career goal in double overtime at Florida Gulf Coast (8/26)… Less than 24 hours later, scored a goal against Delaware State (8/27)… Continued streak with FIU’s lone goal against Fresno State (9/3)… Scored second game-winner of career against Robert Morris (9/5)… Assisted game-winning goal in shutout over UALR (9/24) to secure FIU’s first conference-opening win in eight years… Became FIU’s first freshman to snag Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week (10/5 – her birthday) since the inception of women’s soccer in the Sun Belt in 2000 for her efforts against Troy and South Alabama… Scored game-winner at Troy (10/1), ending the Trojans’ seven-game unbeaten streak… Netted game-winner against South Alabama (10/3)… Assisted game-winning goal versus WKU (10/8) and scored a goal with 39 seconds left to cap a three-game scoring streak for the second time this season… Recorded first two-goal game of career in 5-0 win vs. ULM (10/21)… Scored game-winner in regular season finale at Florida Atlantic (10/27), delivering FIU’s first win in Boca Raton since 2000.

Prior to FIU: Leading scorer for Wellington Wave Soccer Club for six years... A multi-sport athlete at Royal Palm Beach High School, playing soccer and volleyball for four years and softball for three... Selected as soccer MVP all four years after emerging as the leading scorer every year, including 29 goals her senior season... Named to first team all-conference in freshman and senior years... Named first team all-conference for volleyball, which finished as runner up in the 2008 state championship... Named second team all-conference in softball as a freshman... Also recruited by USF, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Stetson, Georgia, Auburn and Appalachian State.

Personal: Born October 5, 1991... Daughter of Albert and Vivian Leiva... Has two older brothers, Daniel and Nicholas... Her cousin, Shaun Garceau, was drafted in the 20th round out of high school by the St. Louis Cardinals as a pitcher... Intends to major in communications with aspirations of becoming a sports broadcaster.
