A native of Sheffield, England, Coach Lee Dunn, brother of head coach Mat Dunn, enters his first year as an FIU Women’s Soccer’s Volunteer Assistant Coach.
A former mechanical engineer of the Royal Airforce from 1985 thru 2013, Dunn played soccer at various RAF bases as a defender before transitioning over to coaching closer to the end of his service.
While stationed in the Netherlands with his children, Dunn started a brand new club called VV Amstrade where he coached from 2001-06, earning several certifications including a UEFA A Licence, FA Advanced Youth Award and FA Talent Identification. From there, Dunn went to northern Ireland to coach with Glentoran F.C. from 2006-09, helping the club win the Northern Ireland Premier League.
Dunn went on to coach Rotherum United Youth Academy from 2009-10, coaching children ages 8-18, before heading to Sheffield United from 2010-19, working with youth athletes ages 8-21. Dunn worked with several notable Premier League players, including Dominic Nathaniel Calvert-Lewin (Sheffield United/Everton F.C./English National Team), David Brooks (Sheffield United/Bournemouth/SouthHampton) and Andre Brooks (Sheffield United).
From 2019-24, Dunn went on to coach at the Manchester United Youth Academy as their Head of Coaching Emerging Talent Centre, aligning coaching methods for ages 8-14 as the players prepared to transition to the full-time academy. He also recruited experienced coaches for the academy, while building a culture that supported individual growth.
The Dunn brothers have experience coaching together, as Dunn would come to the states periodically during the offseason to help head coach Mat Dunn coach at Keiser.
