Biography

Natalia Valentin had a stellar career at FIU from 2007-2010, leaving the program as its all-time assists leader with 4,413 career assists. The All-American setter also sits on top of the FIU rally-scoring era (2001-present) digs charts with 1,100 career digs, a mark which ranks second all-time in school history.

Valentin is a three-time All-Sun Belt Conference honoree and has also been named to the SBC All-Tournament Team on three occasions. In 2009, she was part of the first trio in FIU volleyball history to receive AVCA All-America honors along with Jovana Bjelica and Yarimar Rosa, also earning her first-career AVCA All-South Region nod.

A native of Caguas, Puerto Rico, Valentin amassed a team-leading 15 double-doubles over her senior campaign in 2010, recording a squad-best 1,270 assists to rank second in the SBC and 23rd in the nation with an 11.24 assists per set mark. As a junior, Valentin was responsible for setting up a Sun Belt Conference-leading offense which ended the campaign ranked in the top 15 in the nation in both kills per set (14.52) and assists per set (13.42). Individually, she ranked consistently in the top 10 in the assists per set category, ending the season with an 11.87 mark to rank first in the conference and ninth in the country. Valentin registered an FIU all-time single-season record 1,448 assists that season.

Valentin, along with Rosa, is a member of the Puerto Rican National Team.
