Panthers Blanked by Wildcats, 1-0

Box Score Daytona Beach, Fla.  (Feb. 20, 2013) – The FIU baseball team (3-1) was on the wrong end of a 1-0 shutout against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats Wednesday evening at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. FIU starter Ty Sullivan suffered the loss, going five innings and giving up a run on five hits while striking out three.

Montana Durapau tossed the shutout for the Wildcats for his first win of the season. The Panthers only managed three hits off the righty, with Josh Anderson, Zach Sweety and Oscar Aguirre each singling in the contest.

The Wildcats scored in the bottom of second after a bases loaded walk to Chris Biocic.

Making their debuts for the Panthers were freshmen Chris Elander and Charlie Cormier, who combined with Albert Cardenas and Dillon Maya to hold the Wildcats scoreless in three innings of relief. FIU pitchers are sporting a combined 1.29 ERA through the first four games of the season.

The Panthers return home for a three-game weekend series against Manhattan. First pitch for Friday's game is at 6 p.m. Saturday's game is at 4 p.m. and the series finale on Sunday is at 1 p.m. All three games of the series against Manhattan can be seen on PantherVision beginning at 5:55 p.m. on Friday.
