MIAMI (March 26, 2013) – The FIU women's tennis team (2-12) lost to the No. 39-ranked Tulane Green Wave (12-6), 4-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the FIU Tennis Courts.

In doubles action, the Green Wave won consecutive matches versus FIU to earn the first point of the contest. Playing with just five student-athletes, FIU was forced to concede the No. 3 doubles position. Tulane clinched the doubles point as the duo of Caroline Magnusson and Caroline Thornton defeated senior Magli Holt and junior Giulietta Boha, 8-3, at the No. 2 doubles position.

Tulane closed out the match, collecting three-straight singles points to hand the Panthers the 4-0 loss.

Forced to forfeit the No. 6 spot due to only having five players, FIU fell behind 2-0. Tulane went up 3-0 following a 6-0, 6-1 loss by Holt to Ipek Birol at the No. 5 position. Freshman Lotte Gras suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Thornton at No. 4, giving the Green Wave the victory.

FIU will next host Brown on Friday, March 29, at the FIU Tennis Courts. The match is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET.
