FIU Falls to Brown, 6-1

MIAMI (March 29, 2013) – The FIU women's tennis team (2-13) fell to the Brown Bears (6-7), 6-1, on Friday afternoon at the FIU Tennis Courts.

The Bears took an early 1-0 lead, winning the doubles portion of the match. At No. 1, the duo of freshmen Aleksandra Trifunovic and Carlotta Orlando lost to Misia Kraswoski and Hannah Camhi, 8-3, while at the No. 2 spot, the tandem of senior Magali Holt and junior Giulietta Boha dropped an 8-1 decision to Jessica Harrow and Nikita Uberoi.

FIU picked up a point in singles play as Boha, at No. 3, won her seventh singles match of the spring, defeating Harrow after the Brown player was retired due to injury. The Bears earned five points during the singles portion of the match to hand the Panthers the 6-1 loss.

At No. 1, Orlando lost to Krasowski, 7-5, 6-3, while Trifunovic fell to Camhi, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 10-8, at No. 2. Holt, playing at the No. 4 position, lost to Sarah Kandath, 6-1, 6-3, and freshman Lotte Gras was defeated by Uberoi, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 5. With only five active players on the afternoon, FIU was forced to forfeit the No. 6 spot.

FIU will next travel to Austin, Texas, to take on the Texas Longhorns on Friday, April 5. The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.
