@FIUSwimDive Knocks of FAU, 134-119

BOCA RATON, Fla. (Jan. 30, 2014) – The FIU swimming and diving team swept the season series with FAU by defeating the Owls, 134-119, on Friday afternoon. The Panthers won nine events on the day, with senior Sonia Perez leading the way with three event victories. Senior Sabrina Beaupre and freshman Lily Kaufman won diving events as well.
 
"We capped off our dual meet season in a big way today," said head coach Randy Horner. "Our divers stepped up big time with Lilly winning platform and Sabrina taking the three meter. Now it's time to turn our focus on the C-USA Championships, which is 27 days away."
 
For the second-straight week, Perez won three events, her first coming in the 1000 freestyle, where she earned a mark of 10:20.31 to earn the win. She followed that up with 2:05.01 performance in the 200 backstroke to earn her second victory of the day. Perez put together another dominant performance in the 200 IM, putting up a time of 2:06.17.
 
Junior Johanna Gustafsdottir had a strong day for the Panthers as well, earning two victories. Her first win of the meet came in the 200 freestyle, posting a mark of 1:54.47. She went on to win the 500 freestyle event too, finishing that in 5:00.91.
 
FIU earned individual event victories in the 100 breaststroke from Dani Meara and the 200 breastroke by Jean Madison. The Panthers also earned a victory in the 200 medley, as the tandem of freshman Jennifer Alfani, junior Klara Andersson, freshman Therese Nord and sophomore Jenny Deist earned a time of 1:47.13.
