The Panthers opened the second frame of action storming out to an early 6-2 lead; however, North Dakota shifted the momentum going on a 4-0 run, tying the match at 6-6. FIU took matters into its own hands, going on a scoring run of their own to take an 11-7 lead. Following a UND timeout, the two teams exchanged points, keeping the FIU lead between three and four points. The Panthers closed out the set going on the offensive, scoring five consecutive points. Despite a late North Dakota comeback, FIU took the second set, 25-21. FIU held North Dakota to a .027 hitting percentage, forcing nine UND attack errors.

North Dakota got off to a scorching start and controlled the third set from start to finish, holding the Panthers to only nine points and a -.152 hitting percentage as they only had five kills and 10 attack errors.

With its back against the wall, FIU came out focused in the fourth set, keeping pace with the North Dakota attack early. However, with the score tied at 4-4, UND went on a 4-0 scoring run, and from that point, the Panthers could not regain focus falling 25-14.
