Last Time Out
FIU earned a hard-fought, 2-1, victory on Wednesday night over the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. Sophomore Marvin Hezel scored his first goal of the season, while sophomore Nicholas Midttun netted his first-career goal in an FIU uniform.
 
In the win, junior Daniel Gonzalez picked up two assists on the two FIU goals. Redshirt freshman David Mitchell started his fourth-straight contest in goal, improving his record to 2-1-1, as he made seven stops in goal..
 
Scouting UAB
UAB comes to Miami ranked 25^th in the most recent NSCAA rankings, which are released each Monday of every week. The Blazers carry a 5-2-1 overall record, most recently earning a 3-1 victory over Missouri State on Sept. 23. Freddy Ruiz leads the way for UAB, tallying 12 points that have come on five goals and two assists.

Saturday's game marks the 12th in the series all-time between UAB and FIU. The Blazers
have won four of the last five dating back to the 2009 season and have outscored the Panthers, 12-2, in
the last five meetings

New Man in Charge
Head Coach Scott Calabrese comes to FIU after a successful six-year stint as head coach at East Tennessee State. A program that began play in 2008, Calabrese led ETSU to two Atlantic Sun Tournament Championships (2010, 2013), a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, and four consecutive seasons of 10-or-more wins (2010-13). This past season, the Buccaneers were crowned 2013 Atlantic Sun Champions after earning a 3-1 victory over North Florida in the A-Sun Tournament Championship.

In total, FIU scored 27 goals last season. Of those goals that were scored last year, 22 of those goals are from players that are returning to this year's squad (81.5 percent). That ranks 10th in the country.

Albrecht Approaching School's Top 10 Scoring List
Senior Quentin Albrecht enters Saturday with 24 career goals. His 57 career points ranks him 22^nd in the all-time FIU record books, just eight points shy of cracking the top 10.
